range of coverage in days (PP)

Example: Production Planning and Control (PP)

The number of days into the future that a material must be available in order to accommodate fluctuations in requirements.(Note that several alternative terms exist for this concept, including "days' supply" (or "days of supply"), "cover in days", and "forward coverage in days". In areas other than Production Planning and Control (PP), it is also possible for the "range of coverage" ("time supply" or "forward cover/coverage") to be measured in different time units, such as weeks, months, or even hours.)In PP, the planner defines the range of coverage as a planned number of days and the system generates the appropriate order proposals as necessary to maintain this coverage.Conversely, in MRP evaluations, the system calculates the range of coverage to show the planner the number of days for which there is still sufficient material. This is the case with the "stock days' supply", the "receipt days' supply", and the "statistical range of coverage".
